How do you actually describe a problem to technical support?
By giving them what they need to reproduce or diagnose it rather than what feels most urgent — because the single biggest cause of slow support is a report that does not contain enough to act on, and the second is a report containing a theory instead of an observation.
What to include, in order of usefulness:
What you did, exactly. The steps, in order, specifically enough that someone else could follow them.
What you expected to happen.
What actually happened, including the exact error text — screenshotted or copied, not paraphrased. "It said something about a network error" is close to useless; the precise wording frequently identifies the fault immediately.
When it started, and what changed around then — an update, a new device, a password change, a move.
How often, and whether it is reproducible on demand.
What you have already tried, which prevents being asked to do it again.
Your environment — device, operating system version, application version, browser, network.
Scope. Does it affect one account or all, one device or several, one network or any — this single set of answers narrows the cause faster than anything else.
What to avoid:
Diagnosing rather than describing. "Your server is down" is a conclusion; "I get a 502 at this URL from two networks" is evidence. A wrong theory sends support in the wrong direction and costs days.
Vagueness — "it doesn't work", "recently", "sometimes".
Bundling several problems into one ticket, which guarantees that one gets lost.
Anger, which does not accelerate anything and frequently routes you to a slower process.
What actually speeds things up:
A short video of the problem happening, which conveys in ten seconds what a paragraph cannot.
Doing the obvious checks first and saying so — restarted, different browser, incognito, different network, different account.
Being available, since a ticket that waits two days for your reply took two days longer.
Asking for a reference number and for escalation criteria if it stalls.
Keeping the thread, rather than opening a new ticket, which resets the history.
